Changes in Ireland Golf Team - 31st Aug 2007
Jonathan Caldwell (Clandeboye) and Gareth Shaw (Lurgan) have withdrawn from Ireland’s team for the Home Internationals at Co. Louth Golf Club on 19th to 21st September.
Both players, who were members of Ireland’s successful team in the European Team Championship at Western Gailes, Scotland, are in the final year of studies at Universities in America and are unable to receive time off from their respective classes.
Caldwell, who is a member of Great Britain and Ireland’s team to face the USA in the Walker Cup matches at Royal Co. Down Golf Club on 8th and 9th September, is attending the University of South Alabama where he is in the final year of a degree in Sports Management while Shaw is in the final year of a degree in Business Management at East Tennessee.
Cian McNamara (Limerick) and Neil O Briain (Royal Dublin) have been called into the Ireland team as replacements.
