FINAL QUALIFYING COURSES ANNOUNCED FOR THE WEETABIX WOMEN’S BRITISH OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP - 31st Mar 2005

Hillside and St Annes Old Links will be the Final Qualifying courses for the Weetabix Women’s British Open Championship in 2005 and 2006 respectively.

Over the years, both courses have hosted many tournaments of national importance but this latest announcement marks a unique double with the two courses now venues for Final Qualifying for the Open Championships of both men and women.

In announcing the two venues, Andy Salmon, CEO of the Ladies’ Golf Union said: "We are continuing our policy of finding top class venues for Women’s Open qualifying and are delighted that two of the finest links courses in the North West have agreed to host Final Qualifying this year and in 2006."

"It is becoming increasingly difficult for non-exempt players to qualify and we feel that they should be given the best possible courses on which to compete, not only against the testing layouts but also against the high quality fields now competing at Final Qualifying."
