England will field a strong line-up, all with international experience, for the annual under-16 clash with Scotland at Prestwick St. Nicholas Golf Club on Sunday 23rd September.

It includes the quartet that beat Spain at Heswall last month - Adam Carson (Long Ashton), Tommy Fleetwood (Formby Hall), Tom Lewis (Mid Herts) and Chris Lloyd (The Kendleshire).

The rest of the team is Jonathan Bell (Royal Blackheath), Tom Berry (Wentworth), Billy Downing (Truro), Adam Myers (Northants County), Eddie Pepperell (Drayton Park), and Max Smith (Newbury Racecourse). The non-travelling reserve is Harry Whittle (Woburn).

Bell, the English Under 14 Champion in 2004, played in the annual match against the England Girls under 18 team for the past two years. He finished sixth in the South East Junior Championship this year and ninth in the English Under 18 Championship and represented the EGU in the Dutch Junior Masters.

Berry, a former Surrey Under 14 Champion and runner-up in the English Under 14 Championship in 2005, played in the training international against Sweden this year and also represented the EGU in the Dutch Junior Masters. Last month he finished fourth in the North of England Under 16 Championship.

Carson, last year’s Gloucestershire Youth Champion, won the English Under 16 Championship at Southport & Ainsdale in July and lost a playoff to Whittle for the Douglas Johns Trophy. He also finished runner-up in the South West Boys Championship and is the Long Ashton Club Champion.

Downing, runner-up in the English Under 14 Championship in 2003 when aged 11, finished fourth in the under 16 Championship two years later. He finished fourth in the North of England Boys Championship last year and he won the South West Boys Championship earlier this summer.

Fleetwood has been an under 16 international for the past two years and is now a member of the under 18 squad. A former Lancashire Under 15 Champion, he finished runner-up in the Lancashire Championship this year and made his debut at boys level in the European Boys Team Championships in Denmark. He was also a member of England’s victorious Boys Home Internationals team, winning all six of his matches, and he was a member of the winning Jacques Leglise Trophy side.

Lewis, joint winner of the under 16 Hazards Salver in the Carris Trophy in 2005 and third in the English Under 14 Championship that year, has enjoyed a successful 2007. He won the Sir Henry Cooper Junior Masters, finished joint runner-up in the English Under 16 Championship and tied first with Lloyd for the North of England Under 16 title.

Lloyd, a former Gloucestershire Under 15 Champion, is also enjoying a highly-successful 2007. After winning the South West Boys Under 16 Championship, he finished third in the Gloucestershire Championship and runner-up in the Carris Trophy and the South West Boys Championship before sharing the North of England Under 16 title with Lewis. He also reached the last 16 of the British Boys.

Myers was English Under 16 Champion in 2005 and has been an under 16 international for the past two years. The big-hitting Northamptonshire golfer represented the EGU in the European Young Masters in 2005 and 2006 and in the German Junior Masters this year. Also played in the earlier match against Sweden.

Pepperell was England Under 14 Champion in 2005 and runner-up in last year’s Under 16 Championship. Made his debut as a boy cap in last year’s Boys Home Internationals and is another who is enjoying a successful 2007.
