SENIOR BRITISH OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP TO BE STAGED AT ROYAL ABERDEEN GOLF CLUB - 10th Feb 2005
SENIOR BRITISH OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP TO BE STAGED AT ROYAL ABERDEEN GOLF CLUB
The Senior British Open Championship, the fulcrum of the European Seniors Tour season, will have a new venue this year, the historic Royal Aberdeen Golf Club playing host to the tournament from July 21-24, 2005.
Jointly sanctioned by the European Seniors Tour, the R&A and the US Champions Tour, the Senior British Open Championship boasts the biggest overall prize fund in European Seniors Tour golf of £1 million, a winner's cheque of £157,800, and a 144-strong field featuring the cream of Seniors Tour talent from across the world.
"This is a fantastic boost for golf tourism in Aberdeen and Grampian and will help raise the profile of golf in the area on a worldwide stage. Royal Aberdeen is an excellent venue for this tournament and we look forward to welcoming the golfers and spectators to the area in July." Lynne Maclagan, Leisure Marketing Executive for Aberdeen and Grampian Tourist Board.
