Huntly Golf Club - 3rd Feb 2005

Huntly Golf Club is one of the well established clubs in West Aberdeenshire having been founded in 1892.

It has evolved from a 9 hole course to an 18, the present layout having been constructed in the mid 1960s.

The course is situated in parkland at the confluence of the Rivers Bogie and Deveron, with Huntly Castle overlooking the 2nd green.

The 2nd and 3rd holes are par threes with tee shot accuracy at a premium.

The stretch of holes around the turn, from the 8th to the 11th, are longish par fours where a good tee shot and accurate second are required to get home.

The par three 14th hole has the River Bogie running along the left and a hooked tee shot here has ruined many a scorecard.

The finishing hole is a friendly par four with the green in front of the clubhouse and holing out for par makes a pleasing end to a round.

The bar is well stocked with refreshment for every taste and the home cooking in the clubhouse is second to none.
