Marketing sub-committee presentations - this week

Saturday 29th, Sunday 30th January and Wednesday 2nd February

Last week you will all have received the Thistle Special . Hopefully you’ve all had a chance to read it. It has certainly raised some very worthwhile and constructive discussion. One of its key objectives was to start a process of two way communication – for the committee to learn the views of the silent majority of members and for the membership to understand the issues we are all facing and the actions the committee are taking.

The next phase of this process will be presentations, with questions and answer sessions, in the clubhouse conference room this Saturday and Sunday at about 12.45 and 5.00 and on Wednesday at 1.00 and 5.00. David Lewis will be presenting, supported by either Barry Nunn or I.

Please try and attend one of the sessions – they are for the benefit of us all.

Spring Disco

Stardust meets Mexican – Saturday 5th March

The New Year’s Eve Disco was a great success, in no small part because of the excellent disco, Stardust, who created a terrific atmosphere and played some great music. We have managed to get them back for our Spring Disco.
Food? Hayley has some super Mexican (or Texmex) dinner recipes ready. So it should be a really fun evening. Dress is smart casual or Mexican. The cost will be only £14.50. Tickets are available from the bar now, so get your tickets quickly.

Nick Ballard wins midweek and at the weekend

Sunday’s was a normal qualifying competition; Saturday’s wasn’t as, owing to rain overnight, there were three temporary greens. So, despite winning on Wednesday with 37pts and on Saturday with 41 pts, the dangerous Nick Ballard keeps his handicap of 15. Nick’s score was only bettered by Brian Tunmore with 42 points on Sunday, which means his handicap has been cut to 16.
