Cradoc Lead Mid-Wales Dominance - 6th Jan 2006
Cradoc were named the 2005 Welsh Golf Club of the Year at an Awards Luncheon in Cardiff on 5th January. As well as winning the overall Award (presented by James McCaffrey, Group Sales Director of Sponsors Towergate Leisure) Cradoc also won the Clubhouse / Course Presentation Category (presented by Roger Pride, Marketing Director, Wales Tourist Board) and were runners up in the Environment Category (presented by Welsh Golfing Union President, Keith Price).
Club Captain Bryn Powell on accepting the Award said “ this prestigious award is a huge boost for Cradoc Golf Club and a reward for a great deal of hard work in recent years.”
The 2004 winners, Centenary Club, Llandrindod Wells again featured well finishing runner up for the overall Award and winning the Business & Communication Category (presented by Rob Holt, Manager Ryder Cup Wales 2010) and placed second in the Junior Category (presented by Andrew Morgan, Chairman Golf Development Wales).
Other clubs to receive awards were Summerhill winners of the Junior Category, Creigiau winners of the Environment Category for the third straight year and Borth & Ynyslas which was third in the Overall Category and runner up in the Business & Communication Category. The judges introduced a special Category, Best New Club (presented by Welsh Golfing Union Past President, Brian Andrews) which was won by the Machynys Peninsula Golf & Country Club which has made massive strides in its first year.
Towergate Leisure’s James McCaffrey on presenting the main Welsh Golf Club of the Year Awards congratulated all recipients on their excellent standard of entry. Welsh Golfing Union President, Keith Price thanked Towergate for their continued support of Welsh Golf, Sportsmatch Cymru for matching Towergate’s £15,000 input and Ryder Cup Wales 2010 for their generous support for the Awards Luncheon.
