Persimmon Golf Launches This Week - 6th Aug 2004

A new company specialising in persimmon drivers and fairway woods is launched this week. Persimmon Golf, with offices in the UK and Biarritz, France, was the vision of golfer and businessman, John England. ‘All the large golf companies have shied away from using persimmon in recent years, as for them the profit margins are insufficient to sustain production’, says John. ‘ The time is right to make these wonderful clubs available throughout Europe. Persimmon is a fantastic material for crafting clubs, giving the player surprising distance and more control in shot making. When combined with modern technology and quality graphite shafts, the effect on your game is stunning.’

But does the modern golfer really need wood? ‘We appreciate that we have a tough task in persuading the 'new traditionalists' to think again, to ditch their old metals, titaniums, and composite ‘whatevers’, says John. ‘There will always be the odd sceptic out there, but you only have to look at our clubs to fall in love – strike golf balls with them and you have found a lifelong partner. We have a passion for persimmon, its looks, playability and performance. This is why we have formed Persimmon Golf, not to appeal to the old school, but to give all golfers throughout the UK and Europe a real choice. ’ he adds. 'Make no mistake these are seriously great clubs'.

And the future for Persimmon Golf? ‘We are basing the company philosophy on the Persimmon tree itself,’ says John, ‘ Grow slow, grow strong….’

Persimmon Golf are offering a range of drivers and fairway woods, with a putter to be introduced at the end of the year. All the club heads are hand crafted for Persimmon Golf in the USA, then assembled in the UK to the customer's specification by our skilled club-maker. Delivery is normally between 5/7 days.

A series of demo-days are to be organised, but for further information call the customer hotline on 01558 822552, or to order on-line, visit:
