MATTHEW JONES – WELSH BOYS CHAMPION - 3rd Aug 2004
Matthew Jones of Pontypridd won the Welsh Boys Championship at Cardigan defeating Lee Lewis of the Gower. Jones gained revenge over Lewis who had beaten the Pontypridd man in the South Wales Boys final at Llandrindod Wells the previous week. Jones was also runner up in the Welsh Boys Stroke Play that was won by Lee Jones of Conwy (Caernarvonshire) with a total of 142 strokes, level par.
Zac Gould continued his excellent run of form by winning the European Young Masters in Murhof, Austria. Gould remains at the top of the Welsh Golfing Union Junior Order of Merit despite not competing at Carmarthen.
The next event is the Boys Amateur Championship at Conwy (Caernarvonshire) Golf Club from 9 – 14 August 2004.
