Invergordon Golf Club

Located in the Highlands of Scotland in the former Admiralty town of Invergordon, the Invergordon Golf Club was formed over 100 years ago, on the 1904 O.S.map there was a six hole course marked on Balblair Park at Rosskeen, just to the west of the present course.

The land was given by MacLeod of Cadboll. Older members of the club say they stopped using it at the beginning of the First World War. At the end of the War a new course was laid out on ground to the east of town, the picture above is of the clubhouse at that site. The course was taken over by the Government in 1940 and offered back after the War but refused.

The Golf Club then established itself on the present and third course on land previously occupied by the grounds of Invergordon Castle. Set in the picturesque surroundings of the Cromarty Firth it is easily accessible from the main North/South A9 route.

A new clubhouse was built in the 1980's, with its upstairs bar overlooking the course and wonderful views of the Cromarty Firth and the hills beyond, which offers a warm homely surrounding and comfortable changing facilities for both male and female players. A range of bar suppers are available with the club frequently catering for parties up to 45 participants.

The course was extended to a full 18 hole course in 1997. Seven of the previous nine holes were retained and the new layout redesigned so that the old mixes with the new providing challenging golf for both the beginner and advanced golfer . The course is a lush parkland layout with some good testing par 4's and some picturesque short par 3's, especially the 8th with its natural pond and a green surrounded by the rhododendron bushes.
