Lochside Lodge and Roundhouse Restaurant
Lochside Lodge is a 4**** Restaurant with Rooms and 3 Medallions featured in Taste of Scotland.
A well established Restaurant with Rooms offering accommodation in the most picturesque of Angus Glens, alongside Lintrathen Loch at the foot of Glenisla - whether you are looking for a relaxing short break or to participate in many of the area's sporting activities from cycling, golfing, fishing, shooting, walking or climbing the Munroes, this is a perfect location.
A converted farm steading, wiith the unique Roundhouse Restaurant and warm cosy Steading Bar, Lochside Lodge offers warm hospitality. Bedrooms are spacious, well decorated and furnished, all with their own private facilities, colour televisions, tea & coffee, hairdryer and bathrobes.
Gail & Graham Riley as owners have many years experience of the Hotel & Catering industry.Graham is a Masterchef of Great Britain and has taken part in many competitions over the years obtaining several awards. Food is modern, imaginative and uses local and seasonal produce from the area.
All dishes are created by Graham and presented to the highest standard. Also a member of the Wine Guild of the United Kingdom - the wine list has been carefully selected to compliment his culinary delights.
ACCOMMODATION:
The converted hay loft of the steading has been converted into 4 well appointed bedrooms offering a range of accommodation, including a family room.
The rooms are spacious, well decorated and comfortable with the original coomed ceilings and hayloft windows. All the rooms have their own private facilities, with bathrobes, colour televisions, complimentary tea & coffee facilities and hairdryers to make your stay comfortable & relaxing. A gun cabinet and drying facilities are also available for guests to use.
The rooms are ideal for individuals as well as for small groups - perfect for a weekend away from the city or as a base for touring or for sporting / family groups.
RESTAURANT:
Award winning chef Graham Riley and a Master Chef of Great Britain sources the best of the local produce from this culinary "Garden of Eden" whether it is the local Angus Beef, Lamb, Glorious Game or the hand picked soft fruits from Blairgowrie. Using his international experience to create menus that offer imaginative and modern cuisine served and presented to the highest standards.
Signature dishes include "Dunsyre Blue Cheese Brulee glazed with Creme Fraiche and served with Game & Orange Chutney" or "Seared Breast of Wild Duck and Five Spiced Confit Leg with a Plum & Heather Honey Reduction" "Warm Brioche & Butter Pudding served with home made Marmalade Ice Cream"
Food is served in both the Roundhouse Restaurant or The Steading Bar where a wood burning stove awaits in the winter months and a fascinating collection of farming memorabilia placed on the wood panelled ceilings and original stone walls.
The Wine List has a truly international flavour - wine is sourced from independant suppliers from all over the UK to give a selection that compliments the food.
For Private Parties / Weddings for up to 40/50 people, Lochside Lodge can offer a unique venue tailor-made for your occasion.
ACTIVITIES:
Located at the foot of Glenisla but still convenient to the small towns of Kirriemuir ( 10 minutes) and Blairgowrie ( 20 minutes) Lochside Lodge is ideally situated for a number of great scottish sporting activities :
Walking - Glen Clova and Prosen offer different walks from the inexperienced to the more serious walker whilst close by is the chance to climb a Munroe as well. Guided walks can also be arranged
Golfing - Alyth, Kirriemuir & Glenisla are all accessible within 10 minutes drive as well as Rosemount at Blairgowrie whilst Carnoustie is only 45 minutes away. There is a full range of golf available in either links courses or parkland courses within 45 minutes. Tee times can be arranged in advance.
Shooting - Excellent range of shooting is available all year round within easy reach of the Lodge whether rough, game birds or stalking with some of the most picturesque and challenging drives.
Fishing - available on Lintrathen Loch as well as Rivers South Esk,Tay & Ericht all being close by.
Cycling - Numerous routes from road cycling to mountain biking are easy to access from beginners to the more advanced
Skiing - at Glenshee - a 45 minute drive - great range of ski slopes for both young and old
There are also many other attractions in the area - Glamis Castle, Discovery and many excellent gardens and historical sites to visit
All these activities can also be finished with a fine malt from our ever increasing collection.
FINDING US:
Directions from Kirriemuir - Take B951 towards Glenisla for approx 7 miles, then take left hand turning to Lintrathen and follow this road over the top of the Loch and down into the village over the bridge - we are on the left hand side.
From the Alyth Roundabout, take the B954 sign towards Glenisla. Follow past the golf courses to a T Junction. Turn right and follow this road for about 6 miles to Lochside Lodge - you will pass Reekie Linn Waterfall (4 miles) and Peel Farm (Craft Centre). Follow the road past Peel Farm for a further 1 mile until you enter Bridgend of Lintrathen - we are the 1st building on the right hand side
Approx travelling times : Kirriemuir 10 minutes, Alyth 10 minutes, Perth 45 minutes, Dundee 40 minutes, Aberdeen 1 hour, Forth Road Bridge 1 hour and 15 minutes.
