The County Hotel
Quality Scottish Accommodation in the heart of Aberdeenshire at The County Hotel, Banff, Aberdeenshire, Scotland
Hôtel typiquement écossais de première qualité, situé au coeur d'Aberdeenshire. The County Hotel, Banff, Aberdeenshire, Ecosse.
Bienvenue and Welcome
Whatever the season the County Hotel is here to welcome you, an elegant Grade B Georgian House offering fine views over the historical Royal Burgh of Banff, the Bay and the surrounding countryside of the River Deveron estuary. Designed by George Robertson about 1778 for the Garden-Robinson family (noted merchants and long-standing Provosts of the Burgh) the building contains many features copied from nearby Duff House, William Adam's baroque masterpiece and stately home of the Earls and Dukes of Fife. A Grecian styled porch way with splendid segmented fanlight was added about 1830.
To the front of the house is a small garden with a pair of unusual weeping ash trees, whilst in the rear garden you may relax on secluded lawn and patios surrounded by flower-beds.
The hotel car park adjoins the grounds.
The County Hotel retains very much the country-house ambiance of former days and as resident proprietors we place particular emphasis on creating a relaxing atmosphere in our home.
OUR ROOMS:
Since conversion to a small prestigious hotel in 1977, the bedrooms have been individually furnished and decorated with all modern-day comforts for the discerning guest. Each room has its own bathroom, colour television, radio, direct dial telephone, writing facilities, electric blankets and central heating.
Restaurant - "L'Auberge" et "Bistro":
The French Chef owned County Hotel invites you to relax in the kernal of our estabLishment. L'auberge, a pleasant restaurant overlooking the bay where only the best fresh local produce (game, meat, fish and vegetables) are prepared personally and served to the highest standards of French Cuisine.
Aperitifs and after dinner drinks are served in our comfortable Lounge Bar where you can enjoy a wide range of Scotland's famous Malt Whiskies.
Our Bistro is open for snacks and light meals in typical French style.
SURROUNDING AREA:
BANFF is an ideal centre for touring. As Duff House Royal Golf Course is just around the corner, the County Hotel is ideally suited for golfers, (Royal Tarlair, Cullen and Turriff courses are all within easy reach).
The RIVER DEVERON provides salmon and sea trout fishing. There are ancient buildings and majestic scenery in abundance for those who wish to explore the Scottish heritage. Also the famous Whisky Trail in Spey Valley is within easy reach from the hotel.
