South Branchal House

This country house was created by John and Caroline Craig, some thirty five years ago. The old farm steading dates back to the late eighteenth century and the Victorian farm house has been extended to make a charming family home surrounding a garden.

This is a relatively unknown part of the west coast The Clyde Estuary swings round the north of the peninsular enfolding miles and miles of moorland fringed by seaports and villages from Greenock, Gourock through Inverkip to Wemyss Bay, Skelmorlie, Largs and Ardrossan. The ferries to the islands of Arran and Cumbrae leave from these Ports.

The farm and our neighbouring estate range over 3000 acres which adjoin Muirsheil Country Park. The wild life of the area is well described on their website. Dinghy sailing takes place at Lochwinnoch where the RSPB have a bird sanctuary overlooking the water with observation hides and binoculars.

The walks are lovely with Ben Lomond and its surrounding mountains to the north. There is a small fishing loch stocked with brown trout on the farm and there are several good riding schools in the area.

South Branchal is within easy reach of both Glasgow and Prestwick airports. There are excellent connections with Europe and North America. The introduction of low cost air fairs throughout makes South Branchal an ideal place to take a holiday.

GOLF:

There are many well known golf courses within reasonable distance such as Troon, Prestwick and Turnberry and we are surrounded by less famous but lovely and challenging courses where the green fees are more economical! These are our local golf clubs.
