The Leadburn Inn

The Leadburn Inn is one of the oldest inns in Scotland. The missive is dated August 26th 1777, Bonnie Prince Charlie was still alive and Napoleon only a schoolboy, when the Thomson family were given "the privilege and liberty of brewing, baking, vending and retailing ales, spirits bread and others".

The brewing no longer takes place but traditional cooking, real ales and hospitality abounds under the guidance of landlady Angela Thinn.

Situated only a short drive from Edinburgh with its many attractions and nestling on the fringe of the Scottish Borders, The Leadburn Inn offers a great base for your stay.

DINING:

The menu provides diners with an interesting choice of well prepared dishes ranging from game casseroles, haggis towers, steak and ale pies to Thai curries and fresh mussels.

Our aim is to serve good quality and tasty food in comfortable surroundings by courteous and friendly staff.

Meals can be enjoyed in the traditional surroundings of the lounge or in the conservatory, under the grape laden vine. If you would like to receive a sample menu, please contact us.

THE PUBLIC BAR:

The public bar serves a wide range of real ales, wines and spirits together with bar snacks, soups and sandwiches. It has an original grey slate floor, pot bellied stoves and a wide panoramic window with open views of the Pentland hills.
