Norton House Hotel
As you turn off the main road past the stone gatehouse and follow the long, tree-lined drive to the house, pea hens skittering in front of the car will leave you in no doubt you have found a traditional country house retreat. But you haven’t left the modern world that far behind. This imposing Victorian mansion set in 55 acres of verdant lawns, secluded parkland and meadows is just a short distance from the vibrant city of Edinburgh.
Norton House itself offers the best of both worlds too. In the original manor, with its grand staircase and period furnishings, you’ll be delighted by the quiet opulence of oak paneling, ornamental ceilings, deep-buttoned leather and rich brocades. Yet, moving further into the House, you’ll discover rooms that give comfort a more contemporary look. Leather, mirrors, satins and silk are used to create a style that’s much more modern but no less sumptuous.
At Norton House you have a choice of two excellent restaurants. In Ushers, you’ll enjoy fine dining in quiet, refined surroundings, selecting from a menu that offers a superbly balanced choice of traditional dishes with a contemporary twist. In the Glass Lounge brasserie, you’ll enjoy dishes which, like the restaurant, have a livelier more vibrant style. But no matter which restaurant you choose you can be sure the food has been prepared with the finest quality ingredients.
Norton House also provides the perfect environment for business meetings. The variety and versatility of the rooms available makes planning your event simple. Presentations, conferences, team-building exercises, and new product launches are all easily catered for. There is a wide choice of rooms in the main house and the Victorian stables have been converted into a self-contained conference and business centre, offering an additional six meeting rooms.
