Some of the finest landscapes and scenery that inspired Scotland's finest authors and poets are on your doorstep. In fact, the whole area is a haven for wildlife. Herds of deer can be seen roaming the landscape and, if you can be very quiet, you may have the opportunity to spot otters living in their natural habitat.

Birds of prey, red squirrels, and a host of other wildlife, are all there to be found when you explore. For the fisherman, several major rivers, including the Esk, Annan, Nith, Ken, Dee, and Cree, all of them notable for salmon and trout fishing, are close at hand.
