Udny Arms Hotel

If you are tired and jaded with the hectic pace of life, then take heart.

A short break at the Udny Arms Hotel can be a self-indulgent oasis in the dessert between one holiday and the next.

ACCOMMODATION:

It is always a pleasure to hear guests ask for their usual room. We like to think they feel at home here because the carefully chosen furnishings, antique furniture and prints make each of our twenty six rooms entirely individual.

In fact, in these days of standardised rooms, the only thing that is standard about our accommodation is its unquestionable comfort - along with, of course, the usual conveniences of en suite bathrooms, television and direct dial telephones.

Little wonder that while some of our guests rise early for a brisk walk or a swift 18 holes before lunch, others can only be stirred from their comfy rooms by the irresistible prospect of enjoying a delicious breakfast as the river drifts by the dining room window.

WINING & DINING:

Witness the Bistro, a paradise for gourmands and bon viveurs. The River Ythan, and the gentle hubbub of conversation are the backdrop to this split level dining room, where diners enjoy our renowned cuisine, prepared with the finest local produce.

As you might expect of a hotel so blessed in its setting - seafood is a particular speciality. Before dining, guests may linger over the menu and an aperitif in our relaxed Cocktail Bar where, at lunchtimes, we serve delicious home-cooked bar meals.

Downstairs in our Cafe Bar, locals and visitors alike un-wind and swop tall-tales in cosy, informal surroundings.

THINGS TO DO:

Whatever the time of year, this beautiful area offers visitors a wealth of scenic, sporting and unashamedly indulgent pursuits - all within easy reach of the Udny Arms Hotel. With the Sands of Forvie on our doorstep, and the Loch of Strathbeg RSPB Reserve close by, this is heaven on earth for ornithologists - as well as for wintering grey geese, and eider duck.

Lovers of the great outdoors can tour the Castle Trail, or go biking and rambling. They can sample the Water of Life on Speysides famous Whisky Trail, land a bargain in Aberdeens exclusive shops or fish for sea trout and salmon in our challenging rivers.

Lovers of the great indoors, on the other hand, can simply relax with a glass of something warming, linger over our irresistible cuisine and succumb to the relaxing atmosphere that brings our guests back to the Udny Arms Hotel time and again.
