The Ferry Inn
This is the sister Hotel of the NEW Weigh Inn, and offers 8 bedrooms right at the point of departure of the St. Ola car ferry to Orkney, along with a Restaurant, Lounge Bar & the now famous Popeye's Bar.
It prides itself on having the very best cuisine in the North of Scotland, in the most picturesque of settings, overlooking Scrabster Harbour.
THE UPPER DECK
Restaurant has long had a reputation as THE STEAK HOUSE in the area, serving the most succulent Aberdeen Angus steaks. But since coming under the management of the Weigh Inn it has also become THE FISH RESTAURANT in the area as well, taking advantage of the constant fresh supply of prime fish, Shell fish, Crab & Lobster landed daily in the market.
Sitting above the Harbour, in The Top Deck, or The Upper Deck, you can soak in the atmosphere whilst eating the most succulent of steaks, or finishing off the freshest fish you can find anywhere.
The scallops, smoked mussels, and locally smoked Salmon make an ideal mouth-watering starter to be followed by your choice of steak, cooked as you like it, and all for under £20.
Scrabster harbour used to be the hub of the herring fishing fleet in the days before steam took over from sail.
Today it is a growing port with a widely based fishing fleet, from the Faroes to Russia, and it is expected to play an important role in serving the North Atlantic oil fields.
The original Scrabster Inn which existed in the mid 1800's has developed into an attractive, and modern Hotel, which is going through further renovation at present.
The new St. Ola ferry which sails daily between Stromness & Scrabster, ties up at the new Roll-on Roll-off berth built in 1976 .
