If you are looking for a warm welcome, a relaxing break and plenty of good home cooking, where better than Balfour House?
An ideal base for your Royal Deeside holiday, whether you want the quiet life or plenty of outdoor action.
The house is a magnificent Victorian family home standing in 30 acres, in an area of outstanding natural beauty two and a half miles from the centre of Aboyne. Miles of scenic trails along ancient roads lead from the house through conifer woods where wildlife abounds – red squirrels, deer, rabbits and many different varieties of birds.
Built in 1840 as a summer retreat by the owner's great great great grandfather, Balfour House has remained in the family ever since. The house is set in its own idyllic estate and has a tennis court which guests are welcome to use. It is a listed building, with beautifully proportioned rooms and many original features.
Your hosts, Rick and Lucy Paul, have recently carried out an extensive programme of refurbishment, including tasteful redecoration and upgrading the bathrooms.
Balfour House is perfectly placed for exploring Royal Deeside, with its wonderful scenery, wealth of castles and gardens, and huge variety of outdoor pursuits.
