Kames Castle

Historic 14th Century Castle.

Kames Castle, once the seat of the Bannatyne family, sits in a private estate of 20 acres in the North of the Island of Bute, with Kames Bay on its East, and Ettrick Bay, an area of outstanding natural beauty and a popular bathing beach, nearby to the West.

The Estate has five self catering holiday cottages, built over a hundred years ago and set in attractive parklands. Also in the estate is a walled garden of almost two acres, and an area of natural woodland through which walks are cut. Visitors to the cottages have freedom of access to all of these areas and may help themselves to garden produce free of charge.

Kames Castle is both family business and family home which we are delighted to share with those who are intent on escaping the stresses of urban life. Kames itself offers beauty and tranquility yet is a convienient base from which to explore and enjoy all that the Isle of Bute and Argyll has to offer - whether that be fishing, golf, walking, sailing, a wide variety of wildlife or just sightseeing. For your children, Kames is a rare place of safe adventure.
