Montgreenan House Hotel
Welcome to the tranquility of Montgreenan, a mansion house hotel of great character and historical splendour, set in fifty acres of beautiful gardens and parkland.
For hundreds of years, Montgrynen or Mountgrainen Castle was the seat of two noble Scottish families, first the Rosses and later the Cuninghames.
The building which occupies the site today is a handsome Georgian mansion boasting magnificent architectural features by Alexander 'Greek' Thompson.
It was built in 1817 for Dr Robert Glasgow as a family home, and to this day it retains that intimate, genial atmosphere which is such a rare commodity in an age of modern purpose-built hotels.
At Montgreenan it's our aim to ensure that all our guests enjoy a relaxed and memorable stay, whatever the occasion.
Every bedroom is comfortable, spacious and individually furnished in keeping with its period setting, and our staff pride themselves on providing a high standard of personal service to match.
Indoors or out, whether you choose to admire the magnificent views of Ailsa Craig from the 5-hole practice course, explore the hotel's beautiful wooded grounds or just enjoy an aperitif in front of a traditional log fire, you'll find Montgreenan is the perfect place to unwind.
For keen golfers, there can be no better choice than Montgreenan. There are over thirty courses within an hour's drive, including Royal Troon, Old Prestwick and Turnberry.
We can arrange bookings on your behalf for any nearby golf course.
Golfing, fishing, clay pigeon shooting and horse riding can be arranged for our guests, all within a five mile radius - or if shopping has greater appeal, a trip to Glasgow takes just 40 minutes.
The hotel is also situated in the heart of Burns country, close to the birthplace of Scotland's National Bard.
In addition Ayrshire offers many splendid castles, gardens, beaches, museums and modern attractions including the distinguished Ayr races - all within easy reach of Montgreenan.
In short, Montgreenan Mansion House Hotel makes the ideal base for exploring all that this popular area has to offer.
