The Royal Albion Hotel

Newly acquired by Shepherd Neame

If you like a sea-view you'll love The Royal Albion Hotel. Built in 1760, the hotel has an un-rivalled position - it is in the middle of the town, yet also on the seafront, with rear gardens leading onto the promenade with direct access to sandy beaches. Charles Dickens was a regular visitor and found the hotel and its surroundings to be a fine source of inspiration for his work.

We have 18 en-suite rooms and the Dickens Suite. The rooms face either the sea or the town. All rooms televisions, radios, hairdryers, tea and coffee making facilities and direct dial telephones.

CONFERENCE FACILITIES

The Bradstowe Room is able to cater for small private functions and conferences for up to 35 guests. Buffet or restaurant meals can booked. Please ring us to discuss this or any special event you would like us to cater for.

Ballard's Bar and restaurant is named after James Ballard, the owner of the hotel when Charles Dickens was a frequent guest. Meals and snacks are available at any time during the day, served either inside overlooking the sea or al fresco on the terrace. Locals often meet there for morning coffee or lunch. Ballard's is totally non-smoking. Shepherd Neame's famous Kentish Ales are on offer in the bars together with a wide range of wines from around the world.

There is much to do and see in Broadstairs and the surrounding area, whether you are looking for a seaside holiday, history or walking and sports. Local attractions - Broadstairs is steeped in history and the famous 'Bleak House' home of Charles Dickens, is within sight of the hotel. Also the interesting and historic city of Canterbury, the towns of Sandwich, Deal and Whitstable are within easy driving distance.
