THE HOTEL:

Off the elegant and spacious reception area, where you will be given a warm Galloway welcome which makes you feel more a friend than a visitor, lies the Tudor style Gallery Restaurant with its oak-beamed ceiling and attractive decor.

As one would expect from one of Galloway's top hotels/with its extensive a la carte menu, the food in the restaurant is superb, with prime Galloway beef provided by local butchers and covered by the Scottish Quality Assurance Scheme.

The Gallery Restaurant also boasts supplying the finest fish and game in season, all of which can be enjoyed to the full with a bottle of moderately priced wine from a comprehensive list.

There is an intimate breakfast room and a traditional public bar with pool and darts.

Menus in the lounge and cocktail bars offer an extensive choice of original dishes in addition to a varied range of meals catering to special dietary & vegetarian needs.

The Galloway Function Room makes an ideal venue for weddings, parties & conferences for up to 100 guests, comfortably furnished, and most have en suite facilities whilst all have tea/coffee hospitality tray and colour television.

LOCATION:

The Galloway Arms is a traditional hostelry lying midway between the County Town of Dumfries and the busy Market Town of Castle Douglas. These towns are 18 miles apart, so that the Galloway Arms over the years has become fondly referred to as 'The Nine Mile Bar'. Robert Burns visited The Galloway Arms in 1793 as part of his Galloway tour, and the Hotel now lies on The Burns Heritage Trail.
