Killeen House Hotel

The Killeen House, surrounded by 11/2 acres of beautifully mature gardens, is less than a 10 minute drive from downtown Killarney.

The question is 'What can anyone say about Killarney that would be original? The answer is 'Simply nothing'.

Ever since Queen Victoria went there on a package holiday back in the middle of the last Century, the place has evolved into the stuff of Myth and Legend. "Heaven's Reflex"..."Beauty's Home"..."The place that God made when he was in good humour".

Better Wordsmiths than us have already said it all. So don't waste your time trying to dream up superlative new descriptive prose - just enjoy and appreciate the wonderous masterpiece of Nature that is Killarney.

In the old Gaelic it's 'Cill Airne', which translates into 'the church of the sloe berries'

(And no, we don't know what sloe berries look like, taste like, where you can get them, or how much they cost!)

Killarney, the name alone says it all! Images of championship golf, incredible angling, unparalleled scenery and leisure facilities spring immediately to mind.

Killeen House Hotel is just 10 minutes drive from the centre of Killarney and only 5 minutes from Killeen and Mahoneys Point golf courses. (History is unclear as to whether Conrad Hilton had Aghadoe in mind when he declared the three most important criteria for any hotel - Location, Location, Location!

In 1992 Michael and Geraldine Rosney purchased Killeen House. Having had extensive experience in the hospitality industry, they had no doubts about the attractions the property had to offer.

A charming little hotel describes the style and character of this unique facility set in 1.5 acres of beautifully manicured gardens. Originally built in 1838 as Archdeacon Nathaniel P. Foresters rectory, it was entirely renovated in 1990-91.

It now enjoys the charm and elegance of the early 19th century hand-in-hand with the comfort and convenience at the late 20th Century. The Hotel has recently undergone a major renovation programme. Killeen House now comprises of 23 en suite bedrooms (8 of which are 'deluxe')

GOLF IN KERRY

Simply put, if there were no such thing as golf, there would be no such place as the Killeen House Hotel.

We eat it, sleep it, drink it - if only we could bloody play it!!

The Southwestern coast of Ireland has been blessed with some of the finest Links and Parkland Courses that are to be found anywhere in the World.

When you get the likes of Tiger Woods, Ernie Els, Mark O'Meara, and even Bill Clinton coming over to play our Courses, they've got to be better than your average Municipal track.

The Scots may claim to have invented the game - even though it was the Dutch who actually did - but, for sure, it's the Irish who really put the 'craic' into it. (Any local person will enlighten you as to the meaning of 'craic'!)
