Cadson Manor Farm
Rated English Tourism Council. 4 stars
Cadson continues a centuries old tradition of welcoming visitors. Set in 200 acres of secluded farmland yet centrally placed to several towns. Liskeard, Launceston and Saltash being in Cornwall and Plymouth and Tavistock in Devon.
Callington itself is three miles away and the seaside town of Looe is 25 minutes away by car. The Eden Project near St Austell and also Heligan Gardens near Mevagissey, are within easy reach. Lovely historic houses and gardens including National Trust Properties such as Cotehele are close by.
There are 5 golf courses in the vicinity, the most famous being St Mellion. Riding stables cater for all ages, fish the 2 acre farm lake or the nearby river (with a permit). Sea fishing can be booked on a Looe based boat. There is a selection of Leisure Centres for swimming and indoor activities.
Cadson nestles beneath historic Cadson Bury, in the Lynher Valley. Here is the view down the Lynher Valley from the lawn in front of the accommodation. The view changes considerably with the seasons, here is the summer view. You can just see part of the lake to the left of the trees, it is a pleasant stroll from the accommodation.
Cadson Bury itself is a National Trust Property and is accessible from a farm walk or from the public road that separates the farm boundary from the Lynher River. Cadson Bury is an iron age hill-fort.
On top of the bury it is hard to imagine that two rows of houses lined either side of a road in the far distant past - now the flat top of the bury provides a lovely walk and the best views of Cadson Farm and the surrounding countryside.
