The Clyffe Hotel

The Clyffe was built in the 26th year of Elizabeth I in 1584, though the original structure, considerably smaller than that of the present day, has been modified over the centuries.

The premises has had an interesting and varied past ranging from a shoemakers in the late 17th century, an Academy for Young Gentlemen in the early 1800s until finally obtained a Hotel License in 1887, under the ownership of Mr Samuel Cripps, after whom the adjoining lane is named.

The Hotel is owned and managed by Brian Pitchford and Sue Gill for whom commitment to customer service is in the blood. It is their intention to make guests feel entirely at home with the Hotel being run as a country house, lit by candles after dusk with roaring log fires in winter.

The Farrier Restaurant, open all year round, offers the perfect venue to meet and relax with friends. Our imaginative menu changes with the seasons and is prepared with the best local produce whenever possible.

All tastes are catered for including delicious vegetarian options and something for the children.
