White Hart Inn

Having been built in 1828 by John Bulteel of Flete “fitted up with every accommodation, good beverages, choice wines and excellent stabling” and offering “unremitted attention” The White Hart has recently undergone a total refurbishment. Situated around ten miles to the east of Plymouth on the A379 Kingsbridge road the beautiful beaches and countryside of Bantham and Thurlestone, the Salcombe Estuary and historic Dartmouth are all nearby.

This Grade II listed building in the delightful South Hams town of Modbury now has a light and pleasant bar offering well kept real ales together with a comprehensive wine list. This offers both new world and classic wines sold by the glass and bottle. Really good coffee is also available including Espresso, Cappuccino and Americano.

Fresh honest food with a modern twist using local meats, poultry, fish and vegetables is served at lunchtime and evening every day and includes a selection of vegetarian dishes. A carvery roast with a choice of three meats and poultry is a popular choice on Sundays. Lunch card, Fixed Price 2/3 courses, Daily Specials and Fish List provide a good choice for all tastes and budgets.

The 1st floor function suite has been recreated almost as it was in 1828. Magnificent chandeliers, delicate pastel shades, barrelled ceiling, French oak floor and superb acoustics provide the perfect venue for wedding receptions, celebration parties, conferences and exhibitions complete with private bar.
