THE PARKS:
Dumfries and Galloway is ideal for a family holiday, offering such a variety of things to do and places to visit that you'll wish your time here was twice as long. At the four coastal parks in this brochure, the whole spectrum of self-catering is covered - cottages, lodges, chalets, luxury caravans and pitches for motorhomes, tents and touring caravans - quality accommodation in a top quality environment.
This is one of Scotland's relatively unknown and unspoilt areas, often missed by visitors from the South anxious to reach the Highlands. Perhaps, because you need to turn off the main touring routes to learn its secrets, Dumfries and Galloway has long remained a peaceful haven. Once discovered however, its varied attractions are captivating; a long south-facing coastline, quiet rural byways, little towns full of character, wooded valleys and open hilltops. In fact, some visitors claim that every scenic aspect of Scotland can be found here.
The mild southwesterlies enable exotic plants to thrive in a colourful series of gardens. There are ancient castles and abbeys to add further variety, and visitor centres ranging from Robert Burns to gem rocks and malt whisky.
